Buffs, Bosses, and More (Much More)


I am happy to share my progress so far with Auron's Arena Adventure!


From the last devlog to now, here's what I changed:

Updates List:

Auron's Improvements:

    - Made Auron bigger on screen (he was a tiny lil guy before)

    - For some reason I put the death conditions in the input reading func (like wasd/click/spacebar inputs), so you only "died" after you clicked with hp <= 0,  so I changed that one to be taken into account while the enemy attacks

    - Auron now regenerates hp equal to 5% of his resolve stat per second

    - Added hammer ability at strength = 50; Auron slams a hammer to ground and slows enemies based off his strength stat. The higher his strength, the higher the slow effect, and the longer it lasts; cooldown lasts 10 seconds

    - Level ups available & happen by choice on the spend XP page. level ups can happen when you have exp greater than your level * 20 +100 (definitely planning on changing this but its a good start for testing out the mechanic)


Endless Mode Updates:

    - Added cat minions and goblins to enemies list. Each wave a random enemy is selected  and 1-2 are spawned each wave (3 sec)

    - Fixed bug where enemies could only attack once after initial attack (they just turned into annoying walls after initial attacks)

    - Each wave the enemies increase in difficulty equal to the players level.

Extras:

    - Initial boss mode is working with two bosses: An Assassin and a Ranger. Once you defeat the first one, the second one automatically will spawn the next time you got to boss mode. (cooler names pending)

    -  At a max level of 20, and max stat of 100 each, the player will need to earn about 7815 exp points.

    - This comes to about 175 enemies on average, including bosses. Noting that this is not very much, I will find a more reasonable way to scale this later


FIRST FOLLOWER:

    - First Follower joins Auron in the Arena!

    - Mira, a mage, will follow Auron and occasionally provide buffs to strength, speed, resolve, or automatically clear the cooldowns of all abilities. The timer for her ability is 30 - the players level, so it starts at 25, and has a minimum time of 10 seconds once the player is level20.

    - Mira may faint in Endless Mode, but no worries! Followers will respawn every so often, I have it set to 15 seconds right now.

    - Followers who faint in boss or arena fights will not respawn

    - Mira unlocks at player level 5

 

I also no longer have a C in Calc 1 proving this doesn't totally  affect my grades. So that's nice.


## Quick note, what you see above is the AI placeholder art. Attached to this post are my first attempts at pixel art (I am not enjoying it, but whatever). They are super blury, it was just like a 16x16 image, I am slowly moving from that size to 32x32 until I get one I actually like.


Any tips/notes appreciated! Current Progress should be posted on the projects home page if you want to try it out yourself. Just download the Godot files, run the one that isn't a console/pck file and it should run assuming I didn't miss any fatal errors. Currently only exported for Windows.
